The best of times

Video Subtitling and WebVTT

HTML5 Doctor explains the WebVTT (Web Video Text Tracks) specification – allowing us to add subtitles to our HTML5 videos.

Whilst no browsers currently support it, this is definitely something to keep an eye on and there are JavaScript options available.

HTML5 Semantics

Bruce Lawson discusses the sensitive subject of semantics and the benefits that it has for the web. If you read nothing else other than the final section ‘Do Semantics Matter Anyway?’, this makes for a very interesting read.
